In mindfulness there is an attitude we practice called “beginner’s mind”.

Have you ever watched a child? They’re innately curious and amazed because they’re seeing things for the first time.

Beginner’s mind helps us to be this way–to come off “automatic pilot” where we often take things for granted.

When we go through the day unconsciously, we’re unable to be energized by the positive moments. We often miss out on the potential of the present moment because we’re comparing it to another from the past. Our thinking we know someone keeps us from truly knowing them.

So see if you can move through your day with openness and curiosity. Greet people as if for the first time. Do a task as though for the first time.

And notice how this impacts you. You’ll likely feel less stress and more peace.
